It’s that time again, the Tropical Garden festival is here and we are running an awesome community village, showcasing community, gardening and local food. It has a wonderful atmosphere and you can come along or contribute time, cake or culinary delights- please see below.
The Tropical Garden Spectacular
is coming up on 1st and 2nd JUNE
and as part of it we are having once again a
Community village.
, This area accommodates-
a community cafe,
garden, cooking and urban living sustainability workshops
and displays from Community Gardens
At the COMMUNITY CAFE alongside wonderful homemade cakes and fair-trade cakes, we would once again like to have tasting platters
GULP
(Growing and Understanding Local Produce) platters
These will be released at two- three times each day from the cafe.
For a (fixed) donation that goes to local community gardens/ Food Care Cook Book (to be confirmed),
people receive a plate/ leaf with 4 different tastes of local dishes on. This will be accompanied by the 4 recipes that
go with them and details of who made them.
go with them and details of who made them.
Last year this rocked and was very popular and we need your help to do this again!
We hope to show case more unusual ingredients as well as different takes on ones we have ample of.
We are appealing to YOU to provide these dishes. A fee will be paid to cover time and ingredients (up to $30).
The dishes need to serve up to 20 tastes (small serve),
- be prepared in a clean environment,
- be delivered to the festival or arrangements made to have it collected/ delivered before hand
- Come in a sealed container, which will be returned if labeled with your name.
- A recipe or ingredients list needs to be provided,
Before day would be great, so we can make copies and put it into a standard format. If exact amounts are not know or required, a list of ingredients to provide with it is ideal so people with allergies or dietary requirements are informed.
We would absolutely LOVE your help- this is your TIME TO SHINE and let others in on some great recipes.Kate Roseth and I could also use recipes in a Food Care cook book that we would like to compile later on.
PLEASE reply to Emma at greenbeingnt@gmail.com if you can help out in any way or if you would like to do a cooking workshop about local produce ($100 voucher given for time/ ingredients)
If you would like to do a gardening/ other workshop also please let us know.
You can also volunteer at the community cafe- time or a cake.
If you helped last year, you rocked!
